Bi History
The original bi (璧) are ancient Chinese jade disc artifacts. The earliest known bi were produced in the Neolithic period, mostly by the Liangzhu culture from 3400–2250 BCE, and then followed by bi from the Shang, Zhou and Han dynasties.
Nearly all classical bi were made from nephrite jade, but some were glass. Early bi discs are simple, while later Bi tend to be carved with patterns and/or symbols.

What do the Bi Mean?
On one level, bi are representations of heaven, the skies revolving around the central axis of the pole star and the centrality of our sun in the solar system. The bi are embodiments of purity and the suggestion of immortality.
Bi were frequently used as ceremonial tools to ward off evil spirits and energies, and owning a bi was considered to be an indication of one’s social, moral and vital status - a status that could continue beyond the death of the physical body.

Bi Discs and the Min Jie School
Even though archaeological and historical conjecture regarding bi may continue on for centuries to come, there are substantial methods of using bi for healing that are known only by a few.
Our Beginning Bi Therapy for Self-Healing workshop trains Min Jie practitioners in the use of Jade bi for self-healing. It advances the prior work of Min Jie practitioners who have developed skills in Min Jie Qi Gong and Min Jie Stone Needle Therapy to higher degrees of refinement and subtlety, allowing them to work with their own healing abilities in completely new and different ways, expanding the range of possibilities for their self-healing, development and exploration.
Min Jie Bi
Min Jie bi differ in some ways from classical bi. We use only contemporary bi that are custom-crafted expressly for our healing purposes using our proprietary precision measurements, ratios and proportions within the Min Jie bi’s structure.
Min Jie bi are made from wild-collected California jade, without questionable history in terms of collection practices, mining, cultural infringement issues, use of slave labor, immoral politics, laboratory alterations and/or adulterations.
Attendance for the Beginning Bi Therapy for Self-Healing workshop is by invitation only. Invitees are chosen from our group of advanced Min Jie practitioners.
Min Jie bi are not for sale to the public. Every Min Jie Bi is uniquely created for each individual advanced Min Jie practitioner and is only for her/his personal use.
